StartMenu 8+

I never paid attention to the Start Menu when I used Windows XP. When I switched from Windows XP to Windows 7, I began to uncover just how useful the Start Menu was. By the time I moved from 7 to 8, having easy access to the Start Menu became a must. Unfortunately, Microsoft dropped the Start Menu and replaced it with a new Start Screen. If you’re like me and you don’t like this change, then you need to know that you can bring back the classic Start Menu with Major Share’s appropriately named StartMenu 8+.

StartMenu 8+ can be used with computers powered by Windows 8 or Windows 8.1. To get the application up and running, you must go through a standard installation procedure: download an installer (it’s quite small, so downloading it won’t take long), run the installer, follow the instructions presented by a setup wizard. Please note that the setup wizard will ask to install other software applications on your PC. Make sure to opt out if don’t want anything other than StartMenu 8+.

By default, while StartMenu 8+ is running, the hot corners and the charms bar are disabled; Metro is also disabled while StartMenu 8+ is running.

Press the Start Menu button on your keyboard and the classic Start Menu will be displayed on your screen. Use it to search for applications, use it to view a list of pinned applications, use it to open the Control Panel, use it to shut down your computer, and so on.
